FAQ

Questions businesses ask about oneCDP

Never worked with a customer data platform? Start here. Plain answers on what oneCDP is, what it does for your business, how launch works and what happens to your customers' data.

What it is

What is a CDP, in plain words?

+

A customer data platform collects everything you know about your customers from different places (guest Wi-Fi, the till, the website, emails, your CRM) and joins it into one profile per person. Instead of a dozen disconnected tools, you see each customer as one story: when they came, what they bought, what they responded to. oneCDP works for online stores, for venues like restaurants, shops, hotels and gyms, and for businesses that have both.

How is it different from a CRM, a loyalty programme or Google Analytics?

+

A CRM manages deals and conversations with contacts you already know. A loyalty programme only sees members who scan a card. Google Analytics reports on anonymous website traffic. oneCDP builds a profile for every consented customer, including the offline guest who never visited your website, and lets you act on it: segments, automated messages, campaign results. It works alongside your CRM and loyalty, not instead of them.

I run one café or salon. Do I need this, or is it for chains?

+

It works for a single venue too. The questions are the same at any size: who are my regulars, who stopped coming, did the promotion bring anyone back? One venue can start with guest Wi-Fi from €39 per month and grow the setup later. Chains get the most out of comparing locations and get volume discounts.

Which businesses is oneCDP best for?

+

Online stores and D2C brands, retail chains, restaurants and cafés, fitness and beauty, hotels. It fits e-commerce with no physical venue and venues with no website, but pays off fastest where a business has both, because oneCDP connects the online and offline sides of the same customer.

What it does for your business

Which business problems does oneCDP solve?

+

Most offline businesses don't know their customers: the guest pays and leaves, and nothing remains. oneCDP turns visits into a customer base you own, shows who is valuable and who is drifting away, and lets you bring people back with the right message at the right time. You also stop guessing whether marketing works: you see which campaign brought people back through the door.

How does it help me sell more?

+

Through three levers. More repeat visits: automatic messages bring back customers who haven't come for a while. Higher spend: offers are based on what a customer actually buys, not sent to everyone. Less wasted budget: you stop paying for campaigns that don't bring visits and put money into those that do.

How do I bring back customers who stopped coming?

+

You set a rule once, for example “a regular who hasn't visited for 30 days”. oneCDP watches for it and sends a message automatically, by email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, Telegram or a Wallet pass. When the customer comes back, the visit is recorded, so you see how many people each win-back message actually returned.

How do I see who my regulars are and what they bring?

+

Every profile shows visit history, how often a person comes, the gap between visits and, with a POS connection, how much they spend. oneCDP calculates RFM (recency, frequency, monetary value) and lifetime value, so you can sort your base into new guests, regulars, VIPs and those at risk of leaving. Visit analytics also show new vs returning visitors and busy hours for each location.

How do I know the system pays off?

+

Post-campaign analysis compares what each campaign cost with what it brought: return visits and, with a POS connection, revenue, down to ROMI. Because visits are recorded, you see real people coming back, not just email opens. We recommend agreeing on two or three metrics before launch, such as return rate or spend per visit, and tracking them from day one.

When will I see the first results?

+

The customer base starts growing on the day guest Wi-Fi goes live, and visit analytics appear straight away. Automated messages like welcome and win-back can run as soon as there are profiles to send them to. How fast campaigns show measurable returns depends on your footfall: a busy café sees it sooner than a clinic with monthly visits.

How it works in your venue

Where do customers in the base come from if my business is offline?

+

Mostly from guest Wi-Fi. A guest connects, sees a branded page with your logo, gives consent and signs in with email, an SMS code or a social account. From that moment they have a profile, and every later visit is added to it. Customers can also come from your POS, loyalty programme, website forms and CRM.

What exactly will I know about my guests?

+

A contact they gave with consent, visit history (how often, how long, which location), what they bought if the POS is connected, and how they responded to your messages. oneCDP joins records from different systems on a shared email or phone number, so one person doesn't turn into three different customers. You see only what guests agreed to share.

What campaigns can I run?

+

Anything based on segments and triggers. A welcome after the first visit, a win-back for regulars who lapsed, a birthday reward, a review request after a visit, a special offer for VIPs or for guests of a specific location. Messages go by email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, Telegram or Apple and Google Wallet passes, whichever channel the customer prefers.

Can it connect online orders and visits to my venue?

+

Yes. The website script, forms and CRM feed the same profiles as guest Wi-Fi and the POS. When a person browses a product online and later comes to buy it in the shop, you see one customer and one story, a connection that neither web analytics nor the till can show on its own.

I already have a CRM, a POS or a loyalty app. Isn't this duplication?

+

No. oneCDP doesn't replace them; it connects to them via API and joins their data into one profile. Your CRM keeps managing deals, the POS keeps taking payments, and oneCDP adds what none of them has: the full picture of each customer across all systems, plus segments and automated messages built on it.

Launch and effort

How long does launch take?

+

Most venues are live within a few days: connect the access points, brand the login page, set up consent, and visits start flowing into profiles. Integrations with a POS or CRM take longer and depend on the systems you use; we agree on the timeline before starting.

Do I need to buy equipment, or will my Wi-Fi work?

+

In most cases your existing Wi-Fi works: oneCDP supports common access points that can show a login page, so you usually don't need to replace your network. If you want to see movement between zones inside a venue, flyTag Bluetooth beacons can be added.

Do I need a marketer or a technical specialist to use it?

+

No developer is needed. Segments are built with a few clicks from ready conditions, and automated scenarios run on their own once set up. We help with the initial setup and first scenarios. Someone on your side should own the messages and look at results regularly, but it doesn't have to be a full-time marketer.

Can I start with one venue and grow later?

+

Yes. Many businesses start with one location and guest Wi-Fi, see how the base grows, then add venues and components. The platform is modular: components can be added or removed at any time, and billing follows the actual setup.

How much does it cost?

+

Guest Wi-Fi starts from €39 per month per venue, with volume discounts for chains. The rest of the platform depends on your configuration: number of venues, size of the customer base, components and integrations. We calculate the price for your case after a short conversation.

Data, GDPR and trust

Where is the data stored and who owns it?

+

Customer data is stored on infrastructure in the European Union, including media and backups, with restricted and audited access. The data belongs to you, not to us and not to an ad platform. oneCDP processes it on your behalf under the Data Processing Agreement.

Won't guests find signing in to Wi-Fi annoying?

+

The login page is short: your logo, one field and a consent checkbox. Returning guests don't have to sign in again: with OpenRoaming their device reconnects automatically on the next visit and the visit is still added to the same profile. Keeping the ask small is also what makes more guests sign in.

What happens to my data if I stop using oneCDP?

+

Your customer data stays yours. Before the contract ends, you can take it out through the API or ask us for an export. After that, the data is deleted from our systems in line with the Data Processing Agreement.
